Privacy

Privacy should feel like part of the player.

Sidus is designed around a simple rule: music you keep on your device stays there unless you deliberately use a feature that needs an online service.

Effective September 20, 2026

The short version

  • Local playback and library organization do not require a Sidus account.
  • Sidus does not upload your audio files simply because you add them to your library.
  • Player AI and connected services are optional. Their screens explain what leaves your device before you connect or send a request.
  • We do not sell personal information, use third-party advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Information Sidus handles

Music and library information

Your audio files, artwork, playlists, favorites, playback state, and library metadata are stored locally or in a storage location you choose. Sidus reads this information to organize and play your library. Your audio files are not sent to Sidus servers for ordinary playback, library browsing, or local playlist management.

Player AI

If you choose Sidus AI, Sidus sends your request and the limited music context needed to answer it, such as relevant track metadata, playlist names, current playback state, or selected lyrics. Audio files are not included. Requests are processed by Sidus infrastructure and OpenAI. Sidus asks OpenAI not to store model requests for later use. Sidus keeps usage counters, subscription status, and limited operational records needed to apply the monthly allowance, prevent abuse, secure the service, and diagnose failures.

If you instead connect your own OpenAI API key, requests go to OpenAI under your OpenAI account and billing. The key is stored in the device Keychain. If you use ChatGPT on Mac or an owner-provided gateway, that connection’s operator and terms apply.

Connected services and cloud storage

Connections such as Apple Music, Spotify, or a storage provider are optional. When you connect one, Sidus uses the credentials and library information needed for the action you request. The provider may process account, catalog, file, or playback information under its own privacy policy. You can disconnect a provider from Sidus settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes in-app payments. Sidus receives signed transaction information, product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal or expiration information, and a privacy-preserving digest used for usage limits. Sidus does not receive your full card number or Apple Account password.

Waitlist and support

If you join the website waitlist, we process the email address you submit and basic anti-abuse request information. If you contact support, we process your address, message, and any files or diagnostic details you choose to send.

Why we use this information

We use information only to provide the feature you asked for, maintain purchases and usage allowances, secure and improve Sidus, respond to support requests, meet legal obligations, and communicate about a waitlist entry you submitted. We do not use your music library to build an advertising profile.

Service providers and disclosure

We share information only when needed with companies that help operate a requested feature, including Apple for App Store purchases, OpenAI for hosted Player AI, hosting and storage providers for the Sidus service, and any music or cloud provider you connect. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

Storage, retention, and security

Local library information remains on your device or in the folder or cloud location you selected until you remove it. Player AI prompts and responses are not saved by Sidus as a conversation archive on the hosted gateway. Subscription entitlement records and monthly usage counters are retained only as needed to provide the service, reconcile purchases, handle refunds, prevent abuse, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Operational logs may be retained for a limited period by our infrastructure providers.

We use platform security features, encrypted network connections, Keychain storage for supported credentials, and access controls appropriate to the information. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Use local playback without creating a Sidus account.
  • Leave Player AI disconnected, use your own API key, or disconnect an online provider.
  • Manage or cancel an App Store subscription from your Apple Account subscription settings.
  • Remove local library data by deleting it in Sidus, removing the selected files, or deleting the app, subject to your device backups.
  • Ask us to access, correct, or delete service data associated with you by contacting support. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where legally required.

Children and international processing

Sidus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Sidus develops. We will change the effective date above and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how information is handled.
